It's nearly midnight here and I've finally managed to get post.

I've had a pretty horrible year and I hope like hell that next year will be better. It wasn't all terrible, I got to spend a fantastic week with boudecia7 and leadaisy in Vegas along with my dad, and that's always going to be one of my happy memories :) I also had two short stories accepted for publishing in anthologies, although they haven't been published yet.

But most of all I had the support of all my friends here through the worst year I've had in a long time. So thank you all and here's hoping that you all have a wonderful New Year.

The picture of good old Darcy getting his lust on is especially apt as I'm reading 'Death Comes to Pemberley' at the moment :) I did start wondering how the notoriously finicking Austen community felt about a profic stab at a Murder Mystery sequel to Pride and Prejudice, and then decided they were probably busy recovering from the spasms over Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Anyway, I'm now finished for the Christmas hols. Yaaaay! Everyone in our office at work has taken tomorrow off with the exception of my boss who spent all day sulking that he's going to be in on his own all day. Should've saved a day's holiday, eh?

Not that I'm doing anything madly exciting tomorrow. I'm hoping to make some real inroads in my next assignment which is a radio play adaptation of the short story I did for my last assignment. It wasn't exactly groundbreaking the first time around although possibly I may be part of a select group of people to wonder what kind of noise a wet cheese sandwich makes when it's thrown at someone...

On Saturday we head off to Rome for a few days. Hopefully it'll be fun and we'll be able to find places open to eat! We have tickets for the Vatican on Tuesday so at least we should be able to get in there okay. I'm not sure how many people to expect there at Christmas. We went at Easter last time and that was completely insane. I have the camcorders charging, my passport with the itinerary, and pocket money. Tomorrow I need to get the new printer working and book in online. Oh and pack :P But that never takes long. I'm a sweatshirt and jeans girl who generally can't wear makeup so that helps reduce wardrobe anxiery.

I'll be sure and look out for any interestingly dirty art. In Rome you don't generally have to look far ;)

The site hosting fanfic for my previous fandom is shutting down - not soon but certainly eventually - and it's making me feel a little nostalgic for the first fandom I ever wrote in. So just for the memories here are the first boys I ever wrote about.

*I can't find their actual kiss on youtube any more. This makes me sad :(

A little late, but huge thanks for everyone who voted for me at the [livejournal.com profile] heroes_het_fic  awards, and congratulations to all!

I dunno what's wrong with me. I was plowing along quite happily with RiH last week and then it fell apart. Now I can't get anything done past poking and fiddling. I have a dozen things that I'm trying to do, not including RiH which I honestly have no idea what to do with any more, and I can't do anything much with any of them.

Bugger :(

Apparently, I am not mad. At least I have ruled out one possible symptom of being barking mad, and that's always good :)

Specifically, the periods that I have on a regular basis wherein I am no longer writing the story but am instead merely writing down the story as it happens all by itself, is an acknowledged awesome writing thing. Not me having some sort of breakdown or delusion*. Phew. I once had a year long story and the entire last 6 months was like that. It was rather worrying.

It even has a name 'magic moment'. Of course in my case there are a couple of drawbacks - I have waaaay more typo's and missing words when it happens because I'm in such a great headlong rush to keep up. (Any fic post of mine prefaced with 'posted in a rush of enthusiasm' HAS been finished in a magic moment, heh). Also, things end up happening that I would've never dreamed off writing; like women chucking themselves of bridges, for example.

So, possibly a mixed blessing then:P

*Delusions of adequacy is more likely for me, I suspect.

I thought some of the dialogue in Heroes was pretty painful but the film I'm turning off halfway through takes the prize:

Woman: Men don't want that when they look at a pretty woman. But one day I won't be so pretty. But this land will be.

Me: Who the hell told you that people like to hear you talking about how pretty you think you are? What are you, six? That's not attractive.

Blah blah

My entire weekend has been writing requests and propmts, hee. I need to not watch Rome while writing because it makes me want to do historical AU's and I do too many AU's.

So I've done a full story (angsty), one tiny (kinda dark) and two small stories (silly). If I got paid for writing I'd be a lot better off. Well, provided I was paid by quantity not quality :D

And for some reason I've been hungry all day. Boo!
