Are you COMPLETELY stupid or what? It doesn't matter what the context is or what your intent was. That quote is what people are hearing and even the people who aren't insulted (I TIVO myself and I couldn't disagree more that DVR's work best with non-serialised shows) have now got a nasty taste in their mouths.

Yeah it was always obvious you thought the people watching your show were pretty thick. But right now you need all the goodwill you can get, and that's no way to go about it.

I have no idea. Bad joke maybe? Poor judgement whatever he thought he was doing.
