I'm doing an historical fic for an upcoming birthday. It's setting during the British occupation of India, what was called the [Poll #1653959]

Matt as an American Mercenary who kidnaps/captures rogue-ish bandit prince Mohinder. But when Matt delivers him to his employer Mohinder discovers that Matt's employer was someone he though was an ally. However just as the exchange is about to take place Matt can't do it. His feelings for Mohinder cause's him to violate the mercenary's code to never break a contract with an employer.

Now they both have to escape Mohinder's former friends and Matt's former employers.

I've been gathering some background info but I was having trouble putting a plot together.

Or perhaps Matt is an English soldier, and the seemingly-harmless Mohinder is a trader/merchant who sells goods to the outpost where Matt is stationed (though he also is collecting information). They become friends, despite strong discouragement from both sides from fraternizing. And when an uprising is planned for Matt's station, Mohinder must decide whether to warn Matt and risk the whole uprising, or not warn him and make certain a blow is struck against the English.
