You think non-American's listen to the State of the Union address?

I don't know any Brits who even watch the Queen's speech...

I want to know where I get to vote for the Leader of the Free World. Or maybe the UK isn't part of the 'Free World' :P

I'm American and even I think the whole "Leader of the Free World" is a weird-borderline-arrogant title. Let's keep to leading America before we try to policesave the whole world, mmkay?

Fair enough but I do take issue with the America = the world sort of attitude implicit in the question in the first place.

I'm glad I stumbled upon this answer. The whole 'America = the World' implication got on my nerves so I didn't bother answering, I'd just let out a fullscreen rant.
Out of curiosity: Brits don't watch the queen's speech? Sorry if I sound ignorant, I'm unfamiliar with the culture. :)

(I'm posting as Anon 'cause my mobile can't handle logging in, haha)

LOL! Yeah my mobile is often a pain about it too.

The Queen's Speech is on Christmas Day and it's a bit... it's the sort of thing your grandparents watch, if you know what I mean. At least that's my experience. It's never anything especially interesting and there's rarely any useful information. Plus on Channel Four they have the Alternative Queen's Speech which has in previous years been Ali G, and The Simpsons. Much more entertaining :)

I'm American and didn't vote for either one Obama seemed insufferably arrogant and Mccain dotering and clueless. I voted for my state and local office's and left the presidential blocks blank.

The two party system always risks alienating great swathes of the population. Technically we're a three party system but nobody thinks the Lib Dems can even get into power. Unfortunately there's pretty much nothing between the Tories and Labour, so increasing amounts of people feel disenfranchised.
