I hadn't heard of this before. A blogger who wrote a post imagining the kidnap, rape and murder of Girls Aloud on a 'fantasy pornography' site was arrested for obscenity in the UK. The prosecution claimed the post was limely to be read by innocent young fans. He was found not guilty but has already lost his job as a result of the court case.

On the one hand, 'fantasy porn site'

On the other, 'innocent young fans'

I know it's not IMPOSSIBLE that never the twain shall meet but...

*frowns* I don't know, that seems like the wrong thing to be going after him for.

I find it quite concerning. Does that mean all of us writing in child-friendly fandoms have to watch our backs? What if he had written in on LJ instead of whatever site it was he did write it on?

Well yes, but I'm pretty sure you know this already... It's one of the reasons my writing journal in LJ (and my Dreamwidth Journal) are marked with the
could contain adult concepts which may not be suitable for minors
on the front page to and my NC17 stuff (or anything dark themed regardless of rating)says
You are about to view content that may only be appropriate for adults

That is, when I remember - sometimes I don't. Actually thinking about it, a trawl through in the next couple of days wouldn't be a good bad idea.

It's not going to stop a determined tyke but those are those are reasonable steps to take to stop them.

And... I think the fact that he was fantasising and writing about REAL people had a lot more to do with the prosecution than mere content.

My journal as a whole is 'May contain adult content' etc, etc, but I wonder if making the Non-con stuff Friends Only might be sensible.

And... I think the fact that he was fantasising and writing about REAL people had a lot more to do with the prosecution than mere content.

I only read the article in the paper and we know how biased and lacking in detail they can be. He did apologise to Girls Aloud, which must've have been interesting when someone told them WHY he was apologising.

If you are using clear warnings in your headers you shouldn't really have to but, of course, it is entirely at your own discretion.
Is this a new use for Warnings - to protect the writer from fallout?

What you'd have to bear in mind then though is that if/when you are posting to comms most of them frown on links to locked posts, as many people (myself included) really do not like hitting a link and finding I have to friend someone's journal before I can read the fic it links to. *grinds teeth*

I rarely post anything to fandom related comms AT ALL anymore (except the drabble ones). I can't cope with all the wankery and sniping. If someone reads something and then says to me 'Hey, you should totally put that "here"' I do it and that's about all.
