This is the exact reason I quit using the rich text editor and moved to the HTML one. n the html one, use:

[lj-cut text="whatever you want your cut to say here"]

text you want behind the cut here

[/lj-cut]

except instead of square brackets use the pointy, sideways triangle ones < and >

Should work no problems. :)

What I actually did was post into the rich text then went to HTML and added the cut there- because I have scrolling issues with my mouse. I think LJ just has days when it doesn't want to do cuts. But I will persevere and try again later.

on a fic? yeah, you'd want a cut and then want to kick lj for being stupid
