Quick thoughts:
Doctor! (Spoiled by trailer)
Martha! (Shocked)
Sarah Jane Smith (Upset)
London (Meh) Oh wait, Forbidden Planet and huuuuuge Waterstones (horrified)
Torchwood (shocked, except for Gwen. Sorry!)
Donna!!! (No fair, she had a total fantastic hero moment and it got sped right over)
More detailed:
It's a shame that this came after last weeks. I think it suffers unfairly in comparison. But I loved the dystopian future. Yes I'm weird. BTW Donna Leeds and Manchester ARE NOT THE SAME. Also, what's wrong with Leeds? Apart from not being Manchester, naturally :P
I did find it distracting having to work out the references to earlier episodes as I went along. I could see the more casual watchers being utterly baffled. I shouldn't have watched with my family as the constant 'what's going on? Who's that? Why's that happening?' was a little distracting. Although my sister's reaction to Donna's 'You're always wearing the same clothes' was to call Rose a 'dirty mare' which did make me sporfle.
And although my mum, sister, and brother-in-law turned up 10 minutes in it should be noted that at no point during the program did any of them ask where the Doctor was. Not once. Dear Show, when your main character dissapears and 100% of the sample set don't even notice, that's a bad sign.
Was that a major, major Mara/Kinda shout out with the ring of mirrors? Looked like it to me.
All that Donna and the Doctor are connected by like MAGIC was annoying. So the Doctor's met her twice. Big deal. He's met the Brigadier about 80 times if you include the books and whatnot.
Next week
Hi Martha! Please continue to be awesome and not be all lovesick and stuff. Kthanxbai
Ianto!!! The rumours were true!!! Whee!!! (Didn't know you 'liked' Ianto, my mum said rather smuggly. I don't have to fancy him to go SQUEE!)
And Gwen. Bollocks.
Jack!! Actually, get some sleep man. And maybe some cucumber slices for your eyes.
Poor Tardis, it's gonna be crowded.
