Yes, it's early but *here* it's the 6th of August and I can't wait.

I asked boudecia7 what she wanted for her birthday, and she said kinky fic both to read and write. So without further ado I present...

The idea is people prompt for kinky goodness - anonymously as they like - and *hopefully* other people fill them, again anonymously. But I can't guarantee that, I can only say that if you ever considered writing this is a great way to start. It's short and anonymous so you can have some fun with no risk!

As this is for [livejournal.com profile] boudecia7 's birthday I'm listing a few of her favourite things for your inspiration:

Shows/Films - Heroes, Alias, Star Wars 1-3
Actors - Greg Grunberg, Neil Patrick Harris, David Anders, Liam Neeson
Things - Bondage, gags, van kidnaps

I'll be back later and will hopefully put some of my own.

Enjoy!

I was reading an essay today on the effect of children's literature on the development of the children reading it, and it got me thinking about my own habits when I was a child. I can trace a lot of my ethical, political, and gender beliefs to books that I read and television that I watched as a child and teenager. Allegorical science fiction and fantasy such as Star Trek, Animal Farm, V, and The Narnia Chronicles all had a huge effect on me as did the fiercely pro-equality discworld books. (Find me a discworld novel when a male character rescues a helpless female character. Females saving females? Sure. Females saving males, oh yeah. Males saving females? Not that I can remember.)

British science fiction and fantasy traditionally has a liberal or leftist bent and I read hundreds of sci-fi and fantasy novels growing up, some aimed at children and plenty not along with Agatha Christie novels, Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Who, The Black Cauldon series, Sinbad, Arabian Nights, and almost anything else I could get my hands on.I grew up watching Buck Rogers, Battlestar Galactica, Bela Lugosi's Dracula, Lon Chaney's Wolfman, along with Laurel & Hardy, Buster Keaton, the Keystone Cops, Hill Street Blues, and the A-Team. Two of my most enduring memories are staying up past midnight watching Quatermass and the Pit on TV and the very first episode of Star Trek I watched with my uncle. When I think about it, I can see where influences from my childhood have shaped me and where they've bled through into my stories.
My sister practically lived on Roald Dahl books along with the Bronte sisters and Jane Austen. A strange mix definitely but one that makes sense if you meet her.

So I'm interested, what books, TV, and movies did you watch as a kid and do you think they've affected you as an adult?
