It really feels like I should put some exclamation marks on the end of that title. Mind you it sounds like a William Castle film to me so what do I know?

Anyway, I found this synopsis here:

Shooting commences today on Mega Spider, the nature-run-amok film from Gravedancers director Mike Mendez.

Cameras are rolling in the Los Angeles area and Shock has learned the project will star Heroes' Greg Grunberg and Alexis Peters (Hatchet II).

Here's a synopsis to snack on until more updates come in: Surviving extermination by nuclear eradication, a horrible alien mutation in arachnid form is now growing at an exponential rate and making its way toward downtown Los Angeles. Hot on its spindly heels is a crack military unit with absolute authority, lead by an obsessively driven commander and his beautiful but lethal sidekick.

Unfortunately for them, this mutant spider has an array of deadly defenses including the ability to virtually disappear through camouflage. But the creature’s real adversary quickly turns out to be a hot-shot local exterminator armed only with cocky attitude, some fast one-liners and his home-made gadgets. Joining forces with the military team, this blue-collar hero sets out to exterminate what has now become a monstrous 10-story tall MEGA SPIDER.

What do we reckon, Grunny for blue collar hero or obsessive commander?

ETA - he's the hot-shot exterminator. Whoo!

I don't know! I'm kind of hoping he'll be the hero, but either role sounds pretty good and I'm sure he's capable of both. Maybe at some point Grunny will tell us. :P

I'll be annoyed if he doesn't have a major role but either looks good for him :)

LOL I know! I'm sooo freaked out by spiders, I'm just hoping this movie will be cheesy enough that it won't really bother me. :P God knows the giant spider scenes in LOTR and Harry Potter just about did me in though. Grunnnnnny! :P

Have you ever seen The Incredible Shrinking Man? Tiny man vs regular spider. Shudder.

Fingers crossed Grunny won't get eaten :P

I STILL haven't watched that HP movie with the spider because I knew I wouldn't be able to hack it. I could only read the book by pretending it wasn't a spider.

This might be the first time I'm hoping a movie has terrible special effects because that;ll be the only way I can hack it and otherwise I love ridiculous mutant monster movies so this kind of thing is right up my ally!

What we need is a giant kitty! Granted mine seem to kill spiders mostly by accident but still...

Funny you say that as I tried for ages this morning to get my cat to even take notice of a spider winging away on a thread above his head--I was too ambivalent to get rid of it myself, but I rather hoped Softie would take care of it for me. As if. He was way too preoccupied licking his butt in my face, little bugger.

I would totally watch a movie about Grunny riding a giant kitty, slaying all the spiders in the land. And then playing with a giant ball of wool. XD

LOL! That's an awesome image :D And in the sequel they can get chased by someone else riding a giant puppy.

I cast my vote for Grunny as the wiseass, Mcguyver-like blue collar hero. Because it's the obsesssively driven military types that wind up as monster munchies.

Check out this pic: http://yfrog.com/ke72974204j It confirms what role he'll be playing.

He looks about 20 pounds lighter than when he was doing Love Bites.

Whoo hoo! I'm really looking forward to seeing this. The movie's probably awful for it looks like a good, fun role for Grunny. You're right, he does look fairly trim there.

Nom nom nom. :D He's such a fine specimen. I'm glad it looks like he's doing the blue collar role, too--he'd be great in either one, but this way he'll get to be funny. And like you say, he'll probably live to the end of the movie XD.

Funny, probably surviving, and heroic, score! :D Grunny does love playing comedy.
